Muc-Off to keep things clean and running smoothly

By Absa Cape Epic

World-leading bike care brand joins Absa Cape Epic sponsor family

Eight days of dust and mud make the Absa Cape Epic the ultimate test for a mountain bike – and keeping it clean and working efficiently.

Now that job has just got a whole lot less painful: the world-renowned bike cleaning and lubricant brand Muc-Off has joined the Untamed African Mountain Bike Race as its Official Bike Care Sponsor.
Different Muc-Off products will be used to clean bikes at the bike washes and to lubricate them out on the course.

“This is a very exciting development,” said Absa Cape Epic CEO Lynn Naudé. “We put a huge emphasis on helping make our riders’ lives easier and using these world-class products will certainly do that.”

Elliot Withers, Athlete and Events Manager at Muc-Off, said: “It really doesn’t much get tougher than Cape Epic. Hundreds of kilometres of hard riding in the untamed wilderness under the blazing sun will take its toll on any athlete, which means preparation will be the key to success. That’s why we’re super stoked to be the Official Bike Care Sponsor for the event. Keeping your bike well-maintained is crucial for top performance, so we’ll be making our range of products available to all athletes throughout the race. We can’t wait!”

Muc-Off has been at the forefront of bicycle cleaning for over 20 years after launching in 1994 with its revolutionary pink Nano Tech Bike Cleaner. Since then, the company has grown its product range to over 150 products, including catering for the motorcycle and automotive industries. Muc-Off is also partnered with some of the world’s top two-wheeled athletes, including Atherton Racing, Team Sky and Danny MacAskill.

The 2017 Absa Cape Epic mountain bike stage race takes place from 19 to 26 March and the much anticipated route can be viewed here.
