NZ Spinal Trust issue fitness and fundraising challenge

A 6km fun run, walk, or push, called Push 2 Pier is open for registrations for both wheelchair and able-bodied participants, to raise awareness of spinal cord injury and fundraise for the work done by the NZ Spinal Trust.

The Push 2 Pier event will be suitable for all ages and levels of fitness, with both social and competitive categories, plus entrants can go on-line to raise donations and sponsors for their run. (http://www.nzspinaltrust.org.nz/push2pier.asp)

There is also an entertaining 6 stage corporate wheelchair relay; each leg will be 1 kilometer long in a wheelchair provided by Melrose Wheelchairs. The transition stages for this relay will be “carefully monitored” - but will probably descend into chaos anyway such is the theme of this fun run!

G J Gardner Homes and Clarkson Signs are the major sponsors of this event and through their support have ensured this will be a fun and successful fundraising event.

G J Gardner Homes currently have 27 franchises throughout the country and are renowned for making the building process easy and hassle free. Their concept plans give great flexibility because they can be easily modified, without incurring huge expense. G.J. Gardner Homes project manage everything and their thoroughness is one reason why year after year, more people build with G.J. Gardner Homes than any other builder.

Clarkson Sign Studio is a local business with a wealth of knowledge that has operated for over 30 years, located behind Addington Racecourse at 93 Wrights Road. Its team of experienced staff provide outstanding service and back up, and offer a full sign service; from design and production right through to installation.

The Breeze 94.5 FM are the Media Partners, and are promoting the inaugural Push 2 Pier challenge, on Sunday the 28th March 2010, 10:30am, starting at the Burwood Spinal Unit to finish at New Brighton Pier.

The event has been named the ‘Halligan Memorial Push 2 Pier’ in honour of the late Ross Halligan, a previous Burwood Spinal Unit recreation officer, who just prior to his death last year was an important member of the organising committee.
